The biggest threats to school networks come from internal users rather than external attacks. While most networks have adequate security for incoming and outgoing email and firewall protection at the gateway, protection against USB and other portable devices is often neglected. This gives pupils, students and staff an open door to install software, images, music and other files onto the network.
