Minimum requirements for the server and network

Choosing the right server

The first part of the installation copies the files onto the server. If you have multiple servers, you will need to decide which server to install the product onto. For best results install the software on the most powerful server and with the most available capacity.

Note: Ranger 5 is an enterprise level product; this means it can be installed on more than one server. This is useful if you want to provide fault tolerance and load balancing on your network. The software licence supports the installation on two servers without any additional charges. If you are installing Ranger into an enterprise network and require more than two Ranger servers please contact sales to buy your additional server licence.

Overview

The software installation is started by running the setup file RangerNetworkSetup_ver.exe. Running the setup file starts a self-extraction process which copies the setup files to a temporary area on the server, this takes approximately 100MB of disk space. The temporary files are automatically deleted after the install.

The installation wizard then goes through the following steps:

Please note that the installation of Ranger on the server will have no affect on the users or computers until the client software is installed onto the workstations.
