Question

Why can't the extend 'Discover' the source server in Windows 2008



Symptoms

'Discover' does not see the source server



Resolution

The source server needs to be visible in the network neighbourhood



Instructions

Upgrade the Microsoft .NetFramework to the latest version.

 

If this still fails ensure that Network Discovery is set to On on the source server if it's Windows 2008

 

The following services may/will also need to be enabled

 

DNS Client

Function Discovery Resource Publication

SSDP Discovery

UPnP Device Host

Computer Browser
