Question

How do I move my Ranger installation from one server to another?

Resolution

Take a full backup of the original server.

From the Ranger directory, run configman.exe and select 'backup your current Ranger config' and save it to another location away from the original server.

If you have a large number of Packages it would be prudent to move these to another location whilst moving Ranger.

On the new server run the setup.exe file and choose the extend option. Follow the setup thru to the end following all instructions.

After the setup has completed, and while both servers are on the network, restart or turn on your Ranger clients. This will enable them to update their files with details of the new server.

Run the ecm.exe on the new server and un-tick any reference to the old server. Ensure the new server is at the top of the list in the 'Redundancy' section.

Restart the client pc's to update them and logon to several clients and ensure they all authenticate to the new server.

Restore the Packages to the new Packages folder on the new server and restart the Ranger services or reboot the server.

From the Setup folder in the Ranger directory run the ReporterInstall.exe to install the Ranger Reporter utility.

You can now remove the old server installation.
