Unable to import users via csv to solo machines

Question

Why does the progress bar just hangs on the last import stage?



Cause

This is caused by a possible conflict in registry keys, during the additional of single users where you have made additional account creation options to enable other local/domain group’s additional access to the user’s home directory.

 

 



Resolution

Instructions

Close down the Solo instance of Ranger Account Manager.

Browse to the machines - HKEY-CURRENT-USER -> Software -> VB AND VBA Program Settings -> Ranger Account Manager and delete the entire folder contents.

As you should see under this folder:

  • AddnGlobalGroupsForFullAccess
  • AddnLocalGroupsForFullAccess
  • DClist
  • Settings.


The first two folders are the ones that are known to cause issues for importing uses within solo.

Once the above has been deleted.

Re-run Solo's Ranger Account Manager, and assign the target machine as the local machine via the options menu on the toolbar, and proceed with your import. But remember not to assign any other groups permission to the home directories.
