Question

We've got Ranger for Networks (RfN) v5.9.1.1231 and Remote Control (RRC) v9.02 installed on the network, whenever we try to control a specific machine via LAN Ranger by right clicking -> Control. It opens up all/several machines within the known list?

How can this be stopped, as it didn't do this in previous versions of RFN and RRC.

Symptoms

This is known to be caused by the Shared Data facility in the new version of RRC being enabled, basically this option saves the known list of machines as well as other configurations on the local machine. So that everytime RRC loads up it calls the settings from this folder.

Resolution

To stop this from happening, simply untick the shared data folder inside RRC Tutor console, exit to save the settings. And attempt to control the machine via LAN Ranger.

This setting is found via the following steps within RRC Tutor:

  1. Via the top toolbar, select School -> configuration
  2. Administration -> security
  3. Untick Shared Data -> click ok.
  4. Exit application.

RFN v5.9.1 and RRC v9.02
