Question

Why do I get errors when accessing Print Manager records?

Symptoms

Errors such as these generally indicate that the database has been damaged and needs repair following the procedure below:

Resolution

Download a database repair utility from http://www.gaiacomputing.com.au/download/tpsfix.exe and copy it to the product's database folder.

Before running the repair program, stop all Gaia services and exit all copies of the Administration programs.
Substitute the name of the damaged file for (file) below.

  1. Copy the (file).tps file to another name or folder in case you need to restore.
  2. Run TPSFix.exe
  3. Browse for Source file (file).TPS
  4. Change Destination file from (file).TPR to (file).TPS
  5. Click Next then Start then Ok to the Info message
  6. If you get a warning message like "No errors were detected in ... Do you want to continue with recovery?", click Yes.
  7. Check that all records were recovered.
  8. If errors are found, write down the error message to send to GAIA support.
  9. If anything goes wrong, restore the original file.
  10. Repeat for the next file.

You will usually need to run TPSFix over the following files:

  • Users.tps
  • UserTran.tps
  • NetUTran.tps

The 2 transaction files may take some time depending on the number of records.

If any other files are reported, then run the repair utility on them as well.
