ADM files and Vista

Question

I've upgraded to Ranger for Networks / Primary v5.9 (with vista compatibility), but how do I add Adm files?

Symptoms

As under Ranger Administrator - Environment Section, there are no listings for Vista environment.

Cause

By Default version 5.9 only contains one vista.adm file which is hidden from view. To enable this you'd need to go from Ranger Administrator -> Edit -> Settings -> Evironment -> Vista.

Untick Hide Vista Profiles. This will then display rangerVista.adm, but you will not be able to add additional templates to this list.

Resolution

If you insist on adding adm files for Vista, then follow the steps below at your own risk. please be advised we will not provide further assistance if you've tried the below steps and it fails to operate as wanted it to.

1. Close Ranger Administrator
2. Browse to the Ranger directory on the server.
3. Locate a file named Ranger.dat, and open it in note pad.
4. Find a section headed by Ranger Vista Profiles
5. Where it should have a line underneath rangervista.adm=Template1
6. Simply start a new line for example <admfilename>.adm=Template2
7. Put the new adm file within the AdmFiles folder within the Ranger directory.
8. Save the file, restart the services and reopen Ranger Administrator.
9. You should now see your custom ADM file in the appropriate section.
