Ranger Print Manager gets the page properties wrong when jobs are printing using OKI printers

Question

Why does Ranger Print Manager get the page count wrong for the OKI Laser Printers?

Symptoms

N/A

Ranger Print Manager is recording the job details incorrectly , sometimes colour prints are being read as black and white.

Cause

Some OKI printer drivers use features that are incompatible with Ranger Print Manager which results with print jobs being incorrectly recorded.

Resolution

Some OKI printers can be correctly monitored by changing a few driver settings.

Instructions

The instructions below show how to change the driver settings for an example printer OKI C5400n.

C5400n Laser printer

• Right click on the printer and select properties. (See Image 1)
• Go to the Advanced tab
• Click on the Printing defaults button
• Go to the job Options tab (See Image 2)
• Click the advanced button
• Check the box for "Reduced the spool size"

Testing

Install the printer on a client pc and print a test page. Check RPM gets the correct page count and page details.
