Question
Why do I get an application error in Corel Draw 12 when trying to open a file?
Symptoms
Welcome to the Application Recovery Wizard. The application you are using has become unstable.
When logged on as a restricted user Corel Draw 12 opens but as soon as the user tries to open a file the program crashes with the error above. If you logon as a high level user the software operates normally.
Cause
The 'Hide recently used files' policy would appear to cause the software to crash. The problem is most likely caused by the software expecting a dialog, menu or path to be available that is being removed because of the user's group policies.
Resolution
Do not hide the recently used files.
Instructions
Open Ranger Administrator and then go to Environment > NT > Groups > Policies > Windows Settings > File Dialogs and make sure the 'Hide recently used files' policy is set to white. Apply the settings if changed.
Testing
Logon as a user within the group and then run Corel Draw 12 and try to open a file.
