Question
Why do I get a Network Offline (rgrbatch) Error on a Solo Laptop
Symptoms
Duplicate function definition
Line 22 in C:\Program Files\Ranger\Setup\rgrbatchnetoffline.txt
integer RegisterFiles()
Cause
In Ranger 5 we discontinued supporting the Network Offline module. The module was disabled by changing the Network Ranger licence key. Unfortunately because the Solo licence key still includes support for Network Offline, when the Solo client logs on onto the Ranger network where the Network Offline files still exist the files are then copied to the local machine.
Once the Network Offline files are copied to the local machine the program automatically tries to install. The discontinued module then encounters problems trying to register functions and files that no longer exist.
Resolution
Remove the Netoffline files from the server preventing any more Solo computers from being affected and then remove Solo from the laptop and reinstall in order to remove the files from the local machine.
Instructions
On the server browse to the RangerClupdate folder and delete any folders with reference to NetOffline i.e.
<servername>\ranger\clupdate\20030801_4_4SR1NetOffline
For Solo laptops affected by the error uninstall Ranger Solo by logging on as RangerRemove and then download the latest version of Ranger Solo and reinstall this onto the computer.
Testing
Logon locally as manager and configure Solo to synchronise its security settings with the Ranger Network (Start Menu > Programs > Ranger > Configure for network, select the option to connect to the Ranger Network and tick the box to download the control files from the server.
Then logon to the network, during the logon the Ranger splash screen should say 'synchronising control files...' Then reboot the client, logon locally or to the network and see if the error reappears.
Applies To
