Instructions
Quota management in Ranger consists of 3 applications. The default installation will configure these applications correctly for the RangerSecureusers group.
QuotaChecker.exe
QuotaEnforcer.exe
QuotaExplorer.exe
Quota Checker is a user tool to check and manage disk quota. Typically users should have a shortcut to this server based program in their Start Menu.
If you want automatic quota checking use QuotaEnforcer. This runs silently in the background (with /q parameter) and checks a user's disk quota. If users are over quota they get the immovable "Over Quota" message. Typically set up QuotaEnforcer.exe as a scheduled job running every 10 or 30 minutes. See manual or sample group (RangerSucureUsers) for more info on this.
QuotaExplorer is an Explorer-like file management program that displays a user's home drive and the relative sizes of files and directories within it. It is intended as a simple and easy to use tool that allows novice users to manage their files. With QuotaEnforcer it is easy for a user to identify and delete large and unnecessary files without having to understand Explorer or file size terminology. QuotaExplorer is started by QuotaChecker and QuotaEnforcer if required.
