Question
Why does the installation routine not recognise me as an administrative level user?
Symptoms
You must be an administrative level user to access this option
During the installation, a check is performed on your user status which results in the installation/setup program not recognising you as an administrative level user.
This prevents you from continuing the installation even though you know you are the 'administrator' and or a member of domain admins global security group.
Cause
Some groups that are pre installed in a Windows Active Directory can have deny access setup to particular functions. If you have your admin account a member of many groups then one of these groups could be preventing the setup utility from confirming your access level.
Resolution
To solve/test the problem create a new user who is only a member of the quot;domain adminsquot; group. This is the only group membership needed to complete the installation correctly.
Instructions
If you find this works, if you wanted to establish the reason why the original user failed, you could add the new user into the same groups as the user who failed, one at a time testing the group membership until the problem reoccurs. You could then decide whether to leave the original user as a member of this group. If you decide to remove this from this group as it is unnecessary then we would recommend deleting the test user.
Testing
Run the Setup program again, the program should install without error.
