Question
How do I configure RAM Staff mode to change the default settings giving RAM staff users more or less rights and/or functionality?
Cause
You would like to allow staff to change the students passwords but restrict RAM to show / hide particular users or groups of users.
Resolution
Ranger Account Manager v1 was modified to provide an easy way to allow staff to change users passwords.
Starting Ranger Account Manager with a "/staff" parameter will automatically start RAM in a "Staff" mode allowing the user access to only RAM's "Modify Users" wizard.
When the program runs in staff mode it is possible to configure some of the programs options and functionality via a configuration file. For example you can include or exclude users from particular groups or those that contain a common string i.e. "admin" or "ranger".
All other Ranger Account Manager functionality remains unchanged.
Instructions
Important Note: For RAM to work on client machines key components need to be installed.
Create and run a shortcut to RAM from the Ranger folder in quot;Staff Modequot;. This will create a text file with the name RAMStaffModeExcludes.txt
Open the file and edit the categories as required. Details on the sections and the functions are listed below:
In this section you can list usernames of users who won't be displayed in the retrieved user list

This group tells RAM to only display users in the listed groups, in this case all users in the domain users group, by default all users.

Testing
Log on as a staff user and use the shortcut to run RAM in staff mode. It should load the program and go straight to the modify user area. Check that your changes have been applied.
