Question

Why do Windows Vista clients not display the desktop icons correctly?

Cause

Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) prevents the script running normally

Resolution

The Ranger for Networks 7.3.2.1 upgrade is not able to run the patchlibraries script on existing Windows Vista machines with User Account Control in place. This script should be manually run on these machines to avoid new users failing to get desktop icons.

1.       Logon to Windows Vista machine as a domain administrator.

2.       Run \\<Rangerserver>\Ranger\Clupdate\20111214120731_1\PatchLibraries.vbs

3.       Logoff.
