Question

Why do I get the following error when attempting to to migrate users, "There is not enough space on the target drive to copy all the source user home folders".

When I have plenty of disk space left?

Resolution

Possible known causes:

1) Insufficient priveleges from the orginal / new location
2) Mac files contained within folders may cause problems
3) Long file names or file names with strange characters
4) You may need to establish the connection to the other server by going to directly to that server path using explorer on the orginal server you are migrating from.

Or

Rather bizarre occurrence on the screen where you enter where users are migrating to eg <servername>users/year03 if you remove the year03 part and click next it checks the files and goes to next option page.  At this point go back and add the Year 03 back into the migration folder as at start and it will then run normally.

Failing that, you might be genuinely out of disk space.
