Disabling Accessibility Option Sticky Keys

Question

Can Ranger help to disable Sticky Keys?

Symptoms

StickyKeys allows you to press a modifier key (CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT), or the Windows logo key, and have it remain active until the next time you press a key other than CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, or the Windows Logo Key.

Cause

This is feature is designed for people who have difficulty pressing two keys simultaneously and is part of the accessibility options.

Resolution

To help prevent users from abusing this feature we have identified the registry keys which disables the Sticky Keys option.

Below are the registry keys needed to deactivate the Sticky Keys function.

Instructions

To use; find the preshellNT.rrg in the root of the Ranger directory, open with notepad and then copy the required lines into the bottom of the file in the misc section.

Windows 2000

Testing

Logon a test workstation as an administrator, open control panel and turn on sticky keys, logoff and then logon twice in order for the registry keys to merge. Then try activating the StickyKeys option using the shortcut keys. Check the control panel accessibility option or system tray to verify.
